Peter Cetera Solo Live in Japan 2012
2012年、ピーター・セテラは1月22日、24日、26日に東京のCotton Club、28日に名古屋ブルーノートにて、2009年12月以来(デイヴィッド・フォスター&フレンズ ジャパン ツアー 2010への出演を含めると、2010年10月以来）となる2度目の来日公演を行いました。これは、2012年行われたピーター・セテラ再来日公演の模様のレポートとなります。
初日の1月22日は、日曜日であったということもあり、今回も3年前と同様に立ち見席まで出る大盛況で、開場時間前には3年前と同様に大行列となっておりました。また、開場前からお並びの多くのファンの皆様にもご協力を頂きまして、ピーター・セテラ宛の寄せ書きメッセージTシャツを作成させていただきました。
まず、1stステージについては、Bruce Gaitsch (ギター)、Gene Miller (ギター、ヴォーカル) 、Boh Cooper (キーボード)、Joe Chemay （ベース）、Dan Needham（ドラム）、Jonathan Hamby (キーボード)、Tania Hancheroff (パーカッション、ヴォーカル)からなるバック・バンド、the Bad Daddies Electric Bandを引き連れて、ピーター・セテラのガーゼのマスクをしながらのお茶目な登場で場内の笑いを誘ってのスタートとなりました。実際、2009年12月の初ソロ来日時の初日の時と比べても明らかにリラックスしていて、見るからにコンディションは絶好調のように思えました。また、バンドも2009年12月の初ソロ来日の時よりも更にJonathan Hambyがキーボードとして加わったこともあり、更に音に厚みが増しパワフルでした。因みに、日本での全8公演のセット･リストは下記の通りでした。

この1stステージでのアンコールでの最後の曲の終演直後、無事に前述の寄せ書きメッセージTシャツをピーター・セテラ本人に直接手渡しができました。（その後、早速その寄せ書きメッセージTシャツを実際に着てのセルフィー写真を、何とPeter Cetera Dot Com - The Official WebsiteのPHOTOSに「T-shirt from my Japanese fans on opening night.」とのコメントと共に掲載して下さいました！）

この2ndステージでは、「The Next Time I Fall」が追加となり、1stステージより1曲多い計15曲が演奏されました。
ところで、1stステージでも2ndステージでも何気に嬉しかったのが「Hard To Say I'm Sorry/Get Away」の「Get Away」でのピーター・セテラのボーカル参加でした。前回の来日公演時でもPBS版の『SoundStage』DVD同様、「Get Away」はボーカルもコーラスもないバンドによるインストのみの演奏となっていたので、今回はボーカルもコーラスもあり且つピーター・セテラも一緒に歌っていたのが嬉しかったです。

この1stステージでは、VIPのお客様として栃ノ心関がお見えになっており、ステージ登場直前も栃ノ心関に一声掛けてからステージへと歩いてきました。また、ライヴの途中、栃ノ心関にスポットライトを当てて紹介する場面もありました。その他にも一緒に来日中の娘Sennaさんに関するネタも飛び出し、相撲はそれなりに楽しんでいたが歌舞伎はダメで、その後はSHIBUYA109へ買い物に行くことになった、といったようなコメントもありました。

この2ndステージはハプニングの多いステージで、1曲目からイヤーモニターの調子が良くなく、改善されないまま2曲目を歌い出したもののやはりダメで演奏を一時中断することになったりしました。また、この2ndステージでは、演奏曲目は1stステージと同じでした。
因みに、Bruce Gaitsch氏によると、今回のピーター・セテラの再来日公演であなたが聴きたい曲ランキングの結果を、ピーター・セテラ本人が少し以前に閲覧してくれていたとのことで、実際、ランキング1位の「They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To」についてはちょっと話題になったとのことでしたし、全体的にも閲覧を楽しんでいたとのことでした。尤も、今回の来日公演のセットリストに影響を与えたかどうかまでは、残念ながら定かではありません。

この1stステージでは、3曲目が終わった後に、名古屋ブルーノートや東京丸の内のコットン・クラブへの招聘に対する謝意や日本はオーディエンスを含め全てがSpectacularであったと述べただけでなく、日本語での「ニッポン大好き」とのコメントも飛び出しました。また、4曲目の後のメンバー紹介のシーンでは、Dan Needhamのメンバー紹介の時に、栃ノ心関と東京丸の内のコットン・クラブのバックステージでメンバー全員が会った際に、栃ノ心関がDan Needhamを見て「相撲？？！！」と言ったという話も披露されました。また、終演後には、2009年12月17日のソロ初来日公演最終日の時に引き続いて、ピーター・セテラの自作の絵を掲げた熱狂的なファンの方がバックステージに呼ばれ、Meet&Greetを行うという素敵なハプニングがありました。（詳しくは、そのファンの方本人のブログも参照ください。）

この最終の2ndステージは、1曲目から大盛り上がりで始まりました。しかも、この最終の2ndステージでは、何度も観に来てくれているファンも居るのでセットリストを一部変える、といったようなコメントの後、今回の再来日公演では初登場となる「One Good Woman」とのセットリストの変更が3曲目で発生し、再び大盛り上がりとなりました。また、10曲目の後には、なんと私や自作の絵を掲げた熱狂的なファンの方を含め、計4名の熱狂的なファンを一人一人紹介して謝意と握手を行ったり、先の自作の絵の一部のお披露目会もピーター・セテラ本人の手で行われたりといった即席イベントもありました（詳しくは、そのファンの方本人のブログも参照ください）し、アンコール登場時には、自作の絵を掲げた熱狂的なファンの方が企画した60枚の自作の絵のコピーと『Please, come again！』のメッセージを送る素敵なサプライズ演出（詳しくは、そのファンの方本人のブログも参照ください）もあるなど、色々な素敵なハプニングも満載でした。また、ライブの方もこの2ndステージでは、13曲目の後半の「Get Away」から観客総立ちとなり、満員の会場は割れんばかりの拍手で満ち溢れ、最後まで今回の来日公演で一番の大盛り上がりとなりました。

It’s been unbelievable coming back here..As usual the fans here have made myself and the BD’s feel so welcome I’m afraid it’s all very addicting..The first night was about as good as it gets onstage..I’m looking forward to the rest of the shows and I’ll keep you posted on that..hmm..Sumo-Kabuki-great shows…Bring it on Japan!!!

Thursday is our last night in Tokyo’s Cotton Club then on to Nagoya..It’s a great venue in a fantastic city..Every show has been packed with our many friends and enthusiastic fans. I always miss Japan after I leave and most certainly look forward returning any time I can.. Seriously, Japan should be on your visit list..Even considering the problems they’ve had recently, as far as I’m concerned there’s no place friendlier, safer or with as much culture as Japan..I LOVE IT!..seeyapC
ps..If you do come over however, please be prepared to feel overweight, underdressed, and ill-mannered because they’ve got it going on over here!..

Just got back to the USA from JAPAN and all I can say is that it was SPECTACULAR! From the sights and sounds to the wonderful friends and fans it was one beautiful journey…I’ll write more later after I’ve had a few days sleep..for now, ZZzzzzz..pC

JAPAN THANK YOU'S
