The transcript of Taka's chat with the Peter Cetera at Yahoo! on June 4, 2001
As a member of the Official Peter Cetera Fan Club, I could attend the "Listen To 'Another Perfect World' With Peter!" on June 4, 2001, at 10pm E.S.T. This was a moderated chat in the Yahoo group area.
After we began a countdown, anyway. I pushed "play" on my CD player. (It meant that EVERYONE in the chatroom listened to "Another Perfect World" at the same time. This enabled us to be all on the same track when we chatted about the songs.) Then I clicked the button named "PM". As a window popped up, I typed the yahoo id in the "to" area and sent my first question to the Peter Cetera himself. Although I'm afraid I cannot remember only my first question word for word, anyway, the transcript of Taka's chat with the Peter Cetera at Yahoo! is as follows:
Taka's Question: 1) Many Japanese fans are waiting you to come to Japan for touring. Why don't you come to Japan to do concerts?
Peter Cetera's Answer: 1) I would love to come to Japan as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Some of my best times are of the great concerts I've had in Japan.
Taka's Q: 2) Peter! "Another Perfect World" Japanese edition was released in Japan on May 23rd from Victor Entertainment on a large scale. I saw a lot of people listening to it at the listening post in the record store; after that they go buy it! I do believe your new album is going to be a great hit in Japan. What do you think about it?
Peter's A: 2) I would really like to have a special reason to come to Japan, as I've grown to love sushi and umo!
Peter's A: 2) Sumo! sorry (user error)
Taka's Q: 3) Do you remember your duet with Japanese female singer: Naoko Kawai on a song called "Love Assistant". If you remember, what is your impression about Naoko Kawai?
Peter's A: 3) I didn't really spend alot of time in the studio as it all happened really fast. But I hear the song was given an award. but I was unable to go over and sing with her.
Taka's Q: 4) Many Japanese fans really love your song "Stay With Me". After your version was a great hit in Japan, Bobby Coldwell[Caldwell] (was) also released his version on his album. It is indeed a great song. Do you have any idea to release or re-record the song internationally?
Peter's A: 4) No not at this time. Usually once I record a song, unlike. How[Hard] To Say I'm Sorry, If You Leave Me Now, Baby What A Big Surprise, which I re-recorded on my last CD, i don't typically re-record my music.
Taka's Q: 5) Do you have any plan to work with David Foster again? I do think David Foster and you are very good combination.
Peter's A: 5) No, I haven't spoken to David in years, but maybe in the future, but not right now.
Taka's Q: 6) Who is your musician you really want to collaborate with? How about Sir Paul McCartney?
Peter's A: 6) Nope, Britney Spears! :)
Taka's Q: 7) You coverd "It's Only Love" on your new album. What is your most favourite Beatles song you really wanna cover next time?
Peter's A: 7) I always wanted to record an old song, and i thought why not do a Beatles song. then I realized that every Beatles song has been covered by someone in every way shape or form. Then I heard It's Only Love and thought it was John Lennon's worst piece of work which goes to show you that the worst Beatles song is better than 99% of the stuff that's ever been recorded. And I'm sure Lennon would have enjoyed my version.
Taka's Q: 8) I think your bass playing is indeed one of the best in all times. Why didn't you play on this new album?
Peter's A: 8) I don't always think about playing bass until the album is cut... tell you what, when I record the next album, I promise to play some bass.
Thus, the chat had run for an hour. I sent my private messages to the Peter Cetera and got his private messages in response like this luckily. Yes! I could chat with the Peter Cetera like this individually; besides, I could receive his sicere replies to all my questions!! Though I could finally chat with the Peter Cetera in person on the web, I hope I could meet the Peter Cetera in person on earth next time. Anyway, thanks a million!! Peter Cetera!!
