Biography

Whilst best known as the longtime frontman for Chicago, singer Peter Cetera also enjoyed success as a solo performer.
 
By the early 1970s, Chicago was among the most popular acts in America, their brand of muscular jazz-rock spawning such major hits as "25 Or 6 To 4," many of them featuring Peter Cetera on vocals. In 1976 Peter Cetera penned the gossamer ballad "If You Leave Me Now," and when it hit number one, most of Chicago's subsequent work followed in the same soft-rock style. Although the band's fortunes dwindled over the remainder of the decade, in 1982 Chicago returned to the top of the charts with "Hard To Say I'm Sorry"; several more smashes, including "Hard Habit to Break" and "You're the Inspiration," were to follow. Although Peter Cetera recorded his eponymously titled solo debut in 1981, he remained with Chicago full-time until 1985.
 
Upon quitting the band, he soon returned to the top of the charts with "Glory Of Love," the first single from his album "Solitude/Solitaire"(1986) as well as the theme to the film "The Karate Kid Part II"; that same year he scored another number one smash, "The Next Time I Fall," a duet with Amy Grant. In 1987, Peter Cetera produced Agnetha Faltskog's "I Stand Alone"; that same year he released "Stay With Me," the theme to the Japanese film "Taketori Monogatari -- Princess From The Moon", in Japan. Upon resurfacing in 1988 with "One Good Woman," the first single from his album "One More Story", Cetera scored with another duet, "After All," this one recorded with Cher. After a four-year hiatus, Peter Cetera issued "World Falling Down"(1992), his final release for Warner Bros.; "One Clear Voice" followed in 1995. Later in 1995, Peter Cetera embarked on his first-ever solo tour, and performed live in the US and South East Asia. In 1997, Peter Cetera released "You're the Inspiration- A Collection," which collects past hits and new material. In 1998, Peter Cetera stepped in to produce River North label mate Ronna's "Day 14."
After a four-year hiatus, Peter Cetera decided that now was the time to release a new album. Peter Cetera's first album in over four years, "Another Perfect World", was finally released in the US on March 27, 2001.
 
On September 14, 2002, Peter Cetera performed a medley of his biggest hits with David Foster accompanying on piano and daughter Claire singing backup vocals at the 2002 Ronald McDonald House Charities Awards of Excellence All-Star Concert and Celebration in Chicago at the Arie Crown Theater. This was the first live performance since his 1996 summer tour. In 2003, Peter Cetera embarked on a Summer and Fall tour, performing with symphony orchestras around the US.
 
On October 19, 2004. Peter Cetera released his first Christmas album entitled "You Just Gotta Love Christmas" in the US. With three original songs and nine classics, "You Just Gotta Love Christmas" was supported by a nationwide promotional tour with Borders Group, Inc. in December 2004.
 
In 2006, Peter Cetera reembarked on a nationwide tour, performing with symphony orchestras around the US. It coincided with the release of his first official live album "Soundstage" as a tour exclusive. (Later "Soundstage" was also released as an exclusive merchandise item through the "MERCHANDISE" section of his website.) On November 21, 2007, "Timeless - The Symphony Tour" and "The Number Ones" were simultaneously released on his website. Since 2007, Peter Cetera has also been constantly touring around the world with his electric band. In December 2009, Peter Cetera finally came to Japan for the first time in 25 years since he came to Japan for touring as a member of Chicago in 1984. This was indeed his first live perfomance in Japan since he debuted as a solo artist in 1986. Since then till 2018, Peter Cetera had constantly toured around the world, including Japan. In 2017, Peter Cetera released his Greatest Hits album "The Very Best Of Peter Cetera" in the US. In 2022, Peter Cetera released his 6CD box set titled "Love, Glory, Honor & Heart: The Complete Full Moon & Warner Bros. Recordings, 1981-1992" in the UK.
